This Privacy Policy explains how FarmRisk (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the FarmRisk mobile application and web platform (the “Service”). FarmRisk is an agro-meteorological advisory platform that provides location-specific weather forecasts and agricultural recommendations to farmers.

By using FarmRisk, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account and Personal Information

When you create an account, we collect information you provide, including:

Name
Contact number — your phone number serves as your unique account identifier (user ID) and is used for account onboarding and, in the future, for OTP (one-time password) based login and verification
Crops grown by the farmer
Farm field demarcation / boundaries (the geographic outline of your owned or managed farmland)

Location Data

FarmRisk collects your precise or approximate location (via GPS or manual village/location selection) to generate location-specific weather forecasts and agricultural advisories. Field demarcation data you provide is also used to deliver farmland-specific advisories.

Device and Usage Data

We collect limited technical information such as app interactions, crash reports, and diagnostic data to maintain and improve the Service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Create and manage your farmer account, using your phone number as your unique account identifier
Onboard you and, in the future, verify your identity through OTP (one-time password) based login
Provide location-specific and field-specific weather forecasts and lightning alerts
Generate crop-specific agricultural advisories based on the crops and fields you register
Contact you regarding advisories, alerts, or service updates
Maintain, operate, and improve the Service
Diagnose technical problems and monitor app performance

3. How We Store Your Information

Your account and farm data are stored using a third-party cloud backend provider, which processes and stores data on our behalf under its own security and privacy commitments. All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using industry-standard protocols (HTTPS/TLS).

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited data with the following third-party service providers strictly to operate the Service:

Cloud backend provider (e.g., Firebase / Supabase): stores your account, crop, and field data on our behalf.
AI/LLM providers (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI): weather and forecast context may be sent to language-model APIs to generate agricultural advisories. We do not send your name or contact number for this purpose.
Analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics / Firebase): anonymized usage and diagnostic data to understand app performance and improve the Service.

These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and are permitted to use the data only to provide services to us.

We do not share your current or precise location, contact details, or field data with other users.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls on stored data.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal and farm data for as long as your account is active. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the email address below. Upon a verified deletion request, we will remove your personal data from our active systems.

7. Children’s Privacy

FarmRisk is intended for use by farmers, agricultural professionals, and organizations. It is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
